Launching podcasts, trips to Tokyo, and asking Santa for a trailer

Liz Somerville is Practice Manager and Managing Director over at Loch Leven Equine, a veterinary practice in Scotland. Not only does Liz work with and own the business with her husband, vet Hugh Somerville, she also runs a team, competes her beautiful horse Splash, and is mum to two gorgeous boys.

In this podmas, Liz talks to us about the launch of The Podcasting Equine Vets podcast, a trip to Tokyo in the summer for Hugh, whether family or food is the best bit of Christmas(!), and why she’d like to find a trailer under the ‘tree’. I’ve used the inverted commas because it would be quite a tree to take a trailer! We also go through all the usual quick fire questions… and can you guess her favourite reindeer?!

Lindsay Robertson is on Small & Supercharged Podmas

Lindsay Robertson aka Lindsay Robertson Photography is on Small & Supercharged Podmas

Blair, breathtaking scenery, herds of ponies, red noses, pudding and moving to the Outer Hebrides!

Lindsay Robertson, better known as Lindsay Robertson Photography, is an incredibly talented photographer based all the way up in Scotland. She takes a lot of pictures of dogs and horses, but also does a lot of brand photography work with lovely rural brands. And she’s on today’s Podmas!

In this episode, Lindsay chats about how one of her highs for 2019 was going to Blair Castle International Horse Trials with Hiho Silver, and how she interrogated(!) a number of riders on the course. As a side note, I work with Hiho (as you’ll know!), and her coverage was absolutely amazing – not only did she get to speak to riders on the course like William Fox-Pitt, she also got other riders to walk fences for the camera and so much else. The coverage was honestly amazing. I love working with Lindsay anyway, and Blair was a great example of why. We also chat about Lindsay’s pending move to the Outer Hebrides, herds of ponies, why pudding is a highlight, being weatherproof… and so much more. We did have a giggle. And I did look on Google Earth a lot too!

Growing a community from shared passions and why horsey gifts always win!

Lindsey McDean is a lady with many strings to her bow. Not only is she half of The Animal Therapy Hub, but she also is the lady behind The Ladies Countryside Community. The community only started life a few months ago, following an accident when Lindsey was unseated from her horse on the road. This accident which, let’s be honest, is a rider’s worst nightmare, made Lindsey take stock. And for a while she lost a little of her horsey passion. In doing this, she rediscovered her passion for everything country. But on searching the internet, she found that there was a real lack of a community for ladies with country passions… and so The Ladies Countryside Community was born!

In this podmas, we chat about losing your mojo and getting it back, why stuffing is a favourite, Home Alone, and how anything horsey is always a hit under the tree… and how if you’re looking for Lindsey on Christmas afternoon you’ll find her mucking out!

I’ve been so excited to share this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podmas with you – it’s with Jane Pike aka Confident Rider. I work with Jane in a range of different ways and have also been on her podcast (which she mentions in this podcast too!) and she’s an absolute delight. In addition to helping riders with their confidence and their performance, Jane is also hilarious and we spend a lot of our time either talking about really deep subjects or in stitches. There was a fair amount of editing on this one because I found Jane’s answer to her favourite Christmas food far too funny. We also chat about the expansion of JoyRide, online clinics and workshops, and we get to know ALL about all the reindeers. Jane did serious research. Mind blowing research.

Amy Pridige is on this episode of Small & Supercharged Podmas. On this episode, I chat to Amy about her new Muddy Mare business, and her #horsemates collection that has been set up to raise money for Riding for the Disabled Groups. The idea is that Amy selects a group and when £500 is raised for that group, it then switches to another group, giving money to the groups to help buy equipment that will make such a big difference to people’s lives. In this episode we also talk about festive jumpers, leading the way for everyone else, and lovely personalised plates.
