How to pitch yourself to be on a podcast…

be on a podcast

Have you ever wanted to be a guest on a podcast? Or have you ever wondered how a podcast host decides who to have on the show, and who to say ‘no thank you’ to? Well, I am about to lift the lid on it… because I think, as with so many things, it’s useful to see it from both sides of the fence.

How to pitch to get on a podcast (and how NOT to pitch to get on a podcast!)

You might be surprised to learn that I have a LOT of requests from people to be on this very podcast here. And the vast majority of the time, the ‘pitches’ come from people who I’ve never heard of or interacted with before. And I can’t think of one of those people I have said yes to. It’s so important, always, to think of develop a relationship with these people, even in a small way, before you pitch to be on their podcast. Because to you, it might be a place you want to be featured, but to them it’s cost them time, money and a lot of energy to develop their podcast into something that gets those downloads, gets those reviews, and keeps its audience coming back week after week.

On this podcast, I share why that is, how to improve your chances of making the cut if you decide to pitch to be on anyone’s podcast, and some things that I always look for (and rarely see) when it comes to podcast pitches that I receive…

As always, if you tune in, please do screenshot and share to Stories. And if you’d like an extra gold star, I would LOVE it if you’d consider leaving a review. Thank you!

Lauren Malone Enterprise Nation

Have you heard of #SheMeansBusiness, She’s Got This, or the Festival of Female Entrepreneurs? These are just three campaigns run by Enterprise Nation to help support female founders… and on this episode I got to chat to Lauren Malone, the lady responsible for these three campaigns and more.

In addition to sharing her passion for supporting females in business, Lauren also talks about the challenges of moving from a predominantly off line event platform to a completely online service (thanks to Covid), how she and the team have adjusted, the positive impact this has had, the fact that Zoom fatigue is real, and so much more. We also explore the #SheMeansBusiness programme, She’s Got This, and the flagship Festival Of Female Entrepreneurs event.

I have the privilege of working with Lauren through the #SheMeansBusiness campaign, which is a programme run by Enterprise Nation and powered by Facebook to help ladies get online and improve their digital skills, to help further their business and brand. To find out more, hop over to Enterprise Nation – it’s all there!

2021 predictions for social media, marketing, influencers and more

2021 predictions for social media marketing influencers and more

Ahhh- 2021, what are you going to bring us?

It’s always important to look ahead in business and life, and the start of the year seems like a good time to do this in a more formal way, and that’s what this podcast is all about- what we can expect to see in 2021. Or, more precisely, what my predictions are.

So what do you think is going to happen with the social media, marketing, and influencer world? How do you think moving things online in 2020 will change our world moving forward? Well, here are my thoughts on it… what do you think? Do you agree?

Whatever 2021 brings, I feel that after 2020 we’ll be ready for it.

Lunch & Learn, Lockdowns, and hope for 2021 with Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation

Emma Jones Enterprise Nation

If you’re feeling a bit lost, down, or just ‘meh’ about the current situation from a business point of view, this podcast, with Emma Jones, the founder of Enterprise Nation, will help.

Lunch & Learn, Lockdowns, and hope for 2021 with Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation

It’s such an odd time, and 2020 was very strange too… but this lady has not only weathered the storm, but she and her team at Enterprise Nation have worked incredibly hard to support small businesses all over the UK with every aspect of this constantly changing landscape. And they have done. And then some.

In this episode, Emma chats about why and how she started Enterprise Nation, her hopes for 2021, the positives from 2020 that aren’t reported in the press, initiatives to support small business for free, resilience, success stories, highs and lows, what it’s like to receive an MBE, Lunch & Learn… and that’s just a snapshot.

In addition to all the above, Emma’s optimism is inspirational. And I feel a bit of well placed, considered optimism at the moment is much needed. I hope you do too.
