are press releases dead

Are press releases dead? It’s a question I get asked a fair amount, and while the short answer is no, the longer answer is more a ‘no… as long as…’. And the long answer is what you’ll get on this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast!

Are press releases dead?

The world has changed from the days of being able to write a press release, send it out, and then feel happy that you’d done big things in helping get your amazing new product out there. Now, you have the option to do a whole lot more with that press release… and that means it can be used for so much more than was originally intended.

The thing is, the way press releases used to work still has value, but with a few extra steps, press releases can be incredibly valuable to you if you repurpose well!

On this episode of the podcast, I explore why the humble press release is very much- in my opinion- alive and kicking, and how to make it (and the process of building your press list, etc) work really well for you.

5 questions to ask a brand ambassador

How do you decide who to have as a brand ambassador for your brand? And if you’re an influencer, how do you pitch to a brand when it comes to working with them? This episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast is all about questions to ask a brand ambassador to make sure you get the right person for you. And all this information will also help you to pitch to the brands you love if you’re an ambassador.

5 questions to ask a brand ambassador

On this episode of the podcast, I share five essential questions I would ask connected to any potential brand ambassador. Not only are these questions useful, but they allow the influencer to really sell themselves and share what’s special about them. Equally, these questions also allows brands to find out all about the influencer, and start to think about how they could, potentially, be incorporated into a marketing plan.

Picking a brand ambassador for you brand should be a considered decision. It’s not one to rush. Getting the wrong ambassador for your brand is, at best, a waste of money and time. At worse, it could alienate your existing customers, put off potential customers, and create a whole world of bad feeling too, which you certainly don’t want or need.

What questions do you ask? What did I miss? Let me know…

7 content tweaks you need to do

What’s that you say? You cross post? Can I offer you an alternative idea that could help your reach and engagement?!

7 content tweaks you need to do!

We all know that repurposing content is a great idea. Not only does it make all the content that you create work harder and give it more chance of being seen by your audience, but it also reduces the workload from your point of view as you don’t need to keep creating new content, all the time, for every new platform.

But how do you do this effectively? This podcast will help you repurpose your content a lot better, thanks to seven simple content tweaks.

Simply cross-posting might not get the best results, as when you post the same content, to different platforms without any adjustment for the platform, it doesn’t appear to be native. By this, I mean that if you say ‘link in bio’ on Facebook, it’ll make very little sense as there’s not a bio on Facebook! Equally, if you include a hyperlink in your copy over on Instagram, it just won’t work… and who’s copying and pasting it to put into Safari? And if you want people to engage in what you’re saying AND you want the functionality such as tags, etc to work, you need to do a bit of work too!

On this episode of the podcast, I share seven easy content tweaks to make it work better on all the platforms you want to post to. I hope you find it helpful!

DVR Equestrian

Which business…

🌟started as a Kickstarter campaign

🌟originally had a collection made by the owner

🌟 has now grown and expanded to include an extensive range of riding apparel with impressive eco credentials?

You guessed it- it’s DVR Equestrian- and founder Danielle is on this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast!

Recycling, repairing, and creating really sustainable products with Danielle Reynolds from DVR Equestrian

I’ve admired Danielle’s work for a while now and it was great to chat about all things DVR, how it started, recycled fabrics, shopping by value, and other ways to be more sustainable beyond horses too (I’ve bought the washing machine ball!)

Danielle designs all the clothing herself- she started making them too- and is a real authority on sustainability, recycled materials, and how we can make better choices at the same time as expecting high performance in our equestrian products.

In addition to this, Danielle shares some of the things that makes DVR different, including a repair service (I know!), allowing people shop by value, and so much more. She also shares some non-equestrian switches that are pretty marvellous too!

5 ways to collaborate with brands

Hands up if you love a collaboration 🙋‍♀️ but do you sometimes struggle to think of how to collaborate with brands you love?
Want five fab ways to collaborate with brands? Your wish is my command…

5 ways to collaborate with brands (whoever you are!)

Collaborations are a great way to promote your brand and grow your audience, and there are LOADS of ways that you can collaborate with brands, whether you are one or if you’re an influencer.

In this episode of the podcast, I chat through five ways to collaborate with brands, to ensure everyone benefits and you achieve your goal for the collaboration- whatever that is.

Collaborations don’t have to be highly complex, in fact, the simplest ones can often be the most effective. It’s really important that you put the time and effort in to make sure you find the right people to collaborate with- those who share your core values, have audiences likely to be interested in what you do, and want to collaborate with you (and put the work in!). Collaborating with people who don’t share your beliefs, have wildly different audiences and have no real interest in working with you as a partnership won’t ever deliver the value you want…

Enjoy the podcast- whether you’re an influencer or a brand looking to collaborate with others brands, I think it’s packed with value to help you on your way to a great collaboration.

make money while you sleep lucy griffiths

Making money while you sleep aka passive income isn’t just a dream, in fact, many people can use their skills and knowledge to provide education and services in automated ways, as Lucy Griffiths, online entrepreneur and author of Make Money While You Sleep explains.

Making money while you sleep and life changing events with Lucy Griffiths

Lucy’s book, Make Money While You Sleep (which is fab- I’ve read it!) is all about passive income and creating products where you as a service based provider don’t directly exchange time for money. It talks about creating products like courses that can continue to sell and support your people without one to one input all the time, and lots more too.

But Lucy didn’t just decide to launch into the online world on a whim, and it was actually some pretty harrowing events and a traumatic birth that led her to a complete career change, from globe-trotting journalist to online course creator.

This is a really brilliant interview and shows the journey Lucy has taken to get to where she is- using her experiences to shape her next step and not letting health challenges stop her, but more cause a pivot in how she spreads her message. She also used a particular event she was told about as a foundation to want to do more good, which I find particularly inspiring.

Do be warned though- this podcast is labelled as explicit for good reason and I would advise you to skip the first four minutes or so if you’re triggered by acts of violence against women or if you’re around young/sensitive people as an incident is described in graphic detail.

To find out more about Lucy Griffiths, check out her website here.

You can also follow her on Instagram, Facebook and subscribe to YouTube too.

Are you part of a membership group? Have you considered joining one? This is the podcast for you!

Should you join a membership group to help your business?

As you’ll probably know, I run the Small & Supercharged Mastermind group- which is a membership designed for small business owners with equestrian, rural or country connections- but what makes a membership (any membership) worth joining?

In this episode of the podcast, I talk about what to look for in membership groups to make sure they’re going to deliver what you need. I also talk about how to assess the training offered and who the group is being led by.

Memberships can provide more than education- they can also provide community, opportunities and so much more. So if you’re thinking of joining a membership or you’re interested to learn more about what you could gain, or you just want to know more about how they work, this is for you!

Membership groups have continued to grow in popularity over recent years, and it’s easy to see why. In addition to getting valuable training, the right memberships can also provide members with supportive communities and the possibility of business (and maybe even life) enhancing connections too.

But not all memberships are created equal. Having run the Small & Supercharged Membership group for a few years now, and seen many others in action, I have packed this episode with tips to help you find the right membership group for you- that is, if you’re interested in them at all.

And, of course, if you’d like to find out more about the Small & Supercharged Mastermind group, you can do that here
