Social media ads 101 with Aggie Meroni from White Bee Digital

Social media ads 101 with Aggie Meroni from White Bee Digital

Social media ads are here to stay. We all have the ability to place them, but that doesn’t mean that the whole process isn’t overwhelming. Particularly if you’re just starting out.

As a Meta Lead Trainer, I teach a fair amount about the ads process and how ads work on the different platforms, but for this episode I wanted to go deeper and speak to an ads specialist who works across a range of platforms, and that’s Aggie Meroni, the founder of White Bee Digital. Aggie is an expert in paid social, working with individuals and agencies to help them maximise the effectiveness of their ad spend.

Aggie has worked for years with a range of businesses when it comes to placing ads on social, and here she gives us a masterclass in how to get started on the ads journey. Yes, it can feel like a lot, but with Aggie’s help, tips and some of her fab freebies and checklists, it needn’t be at all.

Find out whether the boost button really is a waste of money, how much money she suggests you need to spend to make an impact, and why Christmas should start in September if you’re serious about ads… it’s a good one!

To find out more about Aggie and White Bee Digital, just see the website.

Comfort, stretch and danger- it’s all about the zones

Let’s talk about comfort zones. Well, more precisely comfort, stretch and danger zones.

Lately I’ve been spending a fair amount of time in my stretch zone, as I share today, and this has made my comfort zone a whole lot bigger. And this is a good thing when it comes to growth. Even if it feels scary!

What are comfort, stretch and panic zones

If you’re wondering what comfort, stretch and danger/panic zones are, then you’ll hear all about this in the podcast, but as a quick ‘cheatsheet’ style guide for you…

  1. Comfort Zone: The comfort zone is a rather ‘lovely’ place. When you’re there, you feel at ease, calm, secure… maybe even confident. In your comfort zone, you’re unlikely to feel stressed and you’re likely to find that when you’re in this zone, you do things you’ve done many times before. It’s easy to stay in this space- I mean, who wouldn’t, it sounds like the dream, right? Well, not quite, as whilst it’s safe and secure, nothing that exciting happens in there. Opportunities to grow, learn new things and push yourself are non-existent, and this isn’t all that good for personal development.
  2. Stretch Zone: The stretch zone is where it all gets interesting. If you imagine the comfort zone as a circle on a piece of paper, the stretch zone is the area just beyond that circle. This is where you learn new skills, try new things, explore new ideas. You might feel uncomfortable, excited, a bit anxious, like you’re stretching yourself (hence the name), but it’s not awful. When you’re here, you’ll be learning and growing… and the really good thing is that when you achieve inside your stretch zone, your comfort zone expands to take it in, to provide a stepping stone to your next area for growth.
  3. Danger Zone: The danger or panic zone is an area to try and avoid. You don’t feel stretched here, you feel panicked, overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, you might also become emotional because it all feels too much. You’re unlikely to learn in this area (because of the panic!). Most people can achieve the tasks inside the panic zone without the stress if they get there in steps. To do this, look to have the activity that has caused the panic as a goal, and keep stretching the stretch zone to edge closer.

Tune in in all the normal places- Apple, Amazon Music, Spotify… anywhere you usually listen to your favourite podcast.

What is Spoga Horse Creator Days?

What is Spoga Horse Creator Days?

Have you heard of Spoga Horse Creator Days? Well, if you haven’t, this podcast is for you, as I share all about this fabulous event, created for equestrian creators, held in Cologne. The event works in harmony with the Spoga Horse trade event, meaning that people who attend can also have the opportunity to learn about the brands they love, meet up with people from the company, and learn all about what’s to come. It’s a content creation gold mine.

A few weeks ago I announced I’m one of the keynote speakers for the event, so what better excuse to catch up with its founder, Sehrwieviel aka Kristina Sehr, to get the inside scoop for this week’s podcast!

In addition to this being a physical event, there’s some very exciting news in the podcast about how you can also get involved from home… how good is that?!

To find out more about Sehrwieviel, see the website

For more about Spoga Horse Creator Days, visit the website

And for more about Spoga Horse, the trade fair, you can visit their website too!

Should you use awareness days for your social media and marketing?

awareness days for social media

With this week being home to Blue Monday, it seemed like a good excuse to have a chat about the potential issues that come from using awareness days for your social media, as part if your content plan… and that’s what this podcast is all about.

Should you use awareness days for your social media and marketing?

Let’s dive into what an awareness day is, shall we? Awareness days are specific dates that are dedicated to raising awareness about a specific issue. This could be something health related, connected to the enviroment, or even around food, such as Chocolate Day! Some ‘days’ last a lot longer with weeks and even months being dedicated to causes and awareness raising. Some of these awareness campaigns are UK only, some are international, and some might even be local (there’s a Yorkshire Day that fits this brief!). There are a LOT of days, and this can help you and your business to promote something you are truly passionate about, but it can also look false or irrelevant if not handled well.

Of course, the right awareness days can add a lot to your messaging, your brand, and your customers, but when brands latch on to any day they think they can ‘make’ work for them, it rarely ends well.

Ask yourself…

  • Is this awareness day relevant to me?
  • Is this awareness day relevant to my business?
  • Is this awareness day relevant to my customers?
  • Am I really aligned with this day, or am I a) struggling for content b) want to get extra reach from being involved c) am I doing it just because I think I should but don’t really have anything to add?

The answers to these questions will lead you in the right direction!

Hopefully this episode will provide some food for thought, and a bit more background about Blue Monday that might encourage a little more research before other days are adopted into your plan.

And pssst- Blue Monday was created by Cliff Arnall, a psychologist based in the UK due to a variety of factors that he thought made the third Monday in January the saddest day of the year. It turns out that this is a subject for debate amongst scientists, so don’t get too attached to having to be miserable that day!

Representation, changing the narrative, and winning the Magnolia Cup with Ashleigh Wicheard

ashleigh wicheard

In 2022, Ashleigh Wicheard won the Markel Magnolia Cup. This fabulous charity horse race not only raised funds for a great cause- The Brilliant Breakfast, as part of The Prince’s Trust, but it also brought representation, inclusivity and more into the spotlight. And a lot of the credit for this has to go to Ashleigh Wicheard, my guest on this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast.

Representation, changing the narrative, and winning the Magnolia Cup with Ashleigh Wicheard

I would urge each and every one of you fabulous people to tune in. Even if you haven’t and won’t experience what Ashleigh has, we all have the ability to be allies when it comes to supporting inclusion and diversity in our sport. Ashleigh has done a lot to raise awareness around this issue, and there are many other equestrians doing a superb job too, but we really do have the opportunity to help in a bigger way.

We discuss what winning the Magnolia Cup meant, why taking the knee was so powerful, diversity in equestrianism, being open to uncomfortable conversations and how we can all be allies for important issues that we might never experience ourselves, but really matter.

Tune in, learn, enjoy and do give Ashleigh a follow- she’s @missblackequestrian over on Instagram and shares some great content around racing, diversity, representation and so much more.

To find out more about Ashleigh, make sure you follow her on Instagram here at @missblackequestrian
