Can you believe that I’m writing about the 100th episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast?! I know, crazy, right? But it’s true. And on this episode of the Small & Supercharged Podcast I’m going to tell you what I’ve learnt from recording 100 podcasts. What I’ve learnt from recording 100 podcasts

- The value of batching… and of knowing your limits. Batching podcast recordings can be a really good idea, but know your limits as when you get tired your voice will change.
- Why being consistent is important. It really is very important.
- All about slow starts. Most podcasts don’t go from zero to millions of downloads in an episode. But that’s OK. Social media is the same. It’ll take time but that’s OK too.
- It’s not as easy as it might seem. Yep – chatting to a microphone isn’t rocket science but there are quite a lot of processes involved in taking a podcast from idea to release day.
- That not all downloads are created equal. Just like with social media, some people will get more out of your podcasts than others. And these people are more likely to become true fans and cheerleaders.
- Not all guests are created equal… some people are incredible guests and share the podcast far and wide, and others don’t. There’s not necessarily a rhyme or reason to it, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
- It’s important to ask for reviews. And I am rubbish at asking for reviews. So if you want to take that as a hint, please do!
- The amazing opportunities that podcasts can provide. Through the podcast, I have interviewed amazing people like Carrie Green, Denise Duffield Thomas and Fiona Humberstone from outside the equestrian industry, and lots of people from inside it too.
- How long show notes take to write. Seriously. They take an age.
- I still don’t like the sound of my own voice. It doesn’t get any easier but it’s very much part of the deal when it comes to recording a podcast.
- The Live was AMAZING. We were meant to be recording a second Live at the end of March but Coronavirus stopped that. However, having people excited about the podcast was so lovely. Without the podcast it would have taken me a lot longer to get to the stage when I was happy to host a live event myself.
